Jacques Allaman, a Swiss journalist, just wrote an article about Fixed gear for the free Daily Newspaper 20min and the Swiss French Radio RSR (french).
Allong with the usual bullshit about fashion, he orientates his article on safety, pointing out once again the danger about riding brakeless in the streets.
I’m a bit tired about journalists who systematically associate the word “fixie” with “brakeless” and “outlaw”, just to write sensational articles and raise audience…
Why don’t you guys just apreciate that more and more people are riding bicycle…

when there arent any other troubles in the world/city…
and the NZZ:
Schönwetter-Piloten
(mah.)
(mah.) has no fucking clue…and for sure a only practical girfriend!
Who wrotes this from NZZ!?
I can’t belive what I’m reading – do I feel a bit of “intollerance”!?
I mean, possible that some ones just ride Fixies “to be In”..but, If you really try to ride it right a Fixie, you will see that this requires more than just 1000.- bugs & a trendy Fixie !! You really need good skills, & some big balls between you legs.. !!
What ever, I see a lot more of people who rides more expensive bikes, and they have the right biking-clothes, with reflectors and amazing flashing lights – they have “thömus-Club-clothes” & go proud arround the city, from home to migros, or they ride from work 10 minutes home – but with all that “professional” branded shitt..that’s a lot more of ” beeing In” as a Fixie rider…!!!
silencio
If I am able to respect, to share pleasure and to enjoy my doings without to “damage” one another- and be able to understand that everybody has his own life and likes..-than mae this world would turn a bit friendlyer.. PL

Wish a good weekend -
Greetings,
PL
hm. i’m part of the nzz am sonntag readership. but instead of believing that crap i wrote a mail to the editor to tell him that he should do better researches before typing such articles.
im sorry! but i think you’re a quite rare species.. thanks you, somebody has to tell him.
my pleasure!
thanks karin!
.
by the way this moron should really do better researches.. because new york has (as we all know) no winter nor rain… and where does it has all has begun – yeah right.
.
the more people like him (nice protrait martin!) writes crap about fixed the more subculture it will be! and when i am honest i like it that way! but as we all know and the history showed us with skateboarding or snowboarding. there where also plenty of crap editors who wrote stupid things about!
as we know, what`s published in the media is not “the truth”.
but these two articles are ………I don`t have words..
I made my experience with that tagi-online article. here some facts i found out or I already knew:
1.in fall, people buy more “winter-equipment”(skis, snowboards etc) than bikes. the bike business makes it`s money 80% during spring and summer.
2.the “journalist” is a “velo-elsener shop team mtb” -rider. he rides more than an average “sunny-time-rider”.
3. he talked to velo-elsener (spezialiced langster-dealer) and veloHenderson (kona paddywaggon-dealer).
4. one of the bikes they had shown on tagesanzeiger-online (during the day there wher 3 bikes shown) had the subtext “a fixie with just a frontbrake, it`s against the law”. but the bike wasn`t a fixie, it had a coasterbrake !
5. I know 3 guys who work for the tagi, they ride fixie or at least ride mor than average people and a closer connected to the bike-business.
so, a “journalist” -who rides more (2) than average bike-riders-, asks two dealers (3)-who sold a lot of bikes you can see on quite every corner in zürich (grey paddywaggon and yellow!!langster newyork)- displays a pic of a coasterbrake-bike and calls it a fixie(4). It had been possible to get better informations, even without leaving the tagi-building (5).
his conclusion after asking two sellout-shops in fall(!!!) :
right now, less fixies are sold because of the police-razzias in the last few weeks.
BOGUS!
about the nzz-article: what a freaking hater!!
respect other opinions, but fight errorism!
